The European Federation for the Science and Technology of Lipids has chosen Uppsala, Sweden for their international annual congress in 2017. In August 2017 the association welcomes around 700 delegates from all five continents to Uppsala. The event is hosted by the Nordic Lipidforum, representing the five Scandinavian countries within Euro Fed Lipid.
The congress series on lipids, fats and oils is rotating through Europe. Topics include health and nutrition aspects, but chemical, engineering, plant breeding, oleochemical and food technology aspects are equally addressed. In Sweden there will be a strong focus on Fish oils and their protection from oxidation. Milk Lipids and Dairy products will also be covered.
Attracting a mainly, but not exclusive, European audience involved in industry, government and academia, the Euro Fed Lipid congress is well-known for its program of scientific and technological presentations.
Through formal and informal networking opportunities, the meeting delegates share insights into the latest scientific and technological developments in the field of fats and oils. It’s a forum for networking between experts from different scientific disciplines and countries but also an exchange between universities and industry. Hence the delegates are mainly from universities (about 60 %) and from the industry (40 %). The congress also has a tradition of inviting about 150 students.
Euro Fed Lipid expects around 700 delegates from about 50 countries during the congress, August 27th to August 30th 2017. The vast majority of the delegates come from Europe, mainly from Germany, France, Turkey, Italy, the Nordic Countries and the Netherlands but there is also a 25% representation from countries outside of Europe such as USA and Malaysia.
- We have chosen Uppsala as our host city in Sweden since it is a university town that is easily accessible. The congress center has the right size and price level. Our first contact point in the process of finding a suitable destination and congress venues is always the convention bureaus. I cherish their unbiased expertise and their knowledge of local opportunities. Uppsala Convention Bureau is ranked very high on my internal list, says Frank Amoneit, Managing Director, Euro Fed Lipid.
- We’ve been working to accommodate this international congress for about a year, since our bid process started, and appreciate the exchange I’ve had with the federation very much. Uppsala Convention Bureau with partners are now looking forward to welcome the 15th Euro Fed Lipid congress to our city in 2017. The work of a Convention Bureau is a constant process of learning and together with the associations we need to fully understand the international convention industry and develop the city together with them for future changes and challenges. I believe that we do it well, it’s our job to listen and then provide the best solutions for our relations and clients, says Anna Lindström, Convention Bureau Manager of Uppsala.
A Convention Bureau is a non-profit organization, which with the help of meetings and events contributes to the development and marketing of a city. Much of the work involves supporting and facilitating for organisations, associations and companies to choose Uppsala as a destination for their meetings and sporting events. All services are free of charge.
