Linnaeus' Sävja - café and cultural brewery

A cozy garden café and stable

Linnaeus' Sävja is a discreet in-place for local residents and people/families around Uppsala looking for a relaxed destination with a lot of history. Linnaeus used the farm as a place to think, write and socialise with the farm foreman – a place of his own where his family were not allowed to come. At weekends, Linnaeus brought his students here on botanical walks from Uppsala. Today only the farmyard with its white historic buildings is open to the public.

Every summer from May to August the farm’s cultural enterprise Linnés Sävja HB and the local heritage society arrange a programme, “Gårdoasen” [“The Farm Oasis”], that fills the weekends with live music from an open air stage, a variety of art exhibitions, tours of the museum with the herb garden and the hop garden and guided tours, talks, flea markets and more.

Linnaeus’ Sävja has a café serving homemade bread, coffee and sandwiches.  The café can be hired for private functions when it is not open for the summer. In the farmyard, hens can sometimes be seen strutting among the tables.

There is a small unique hop garden with 17th century clones for test-brewing a variety of craft beers, which can be tasted at certain times.

Open at weekends from 26 May to 1 July and from 18 to 26 August 2018.
