Linnaeus' Sävja - café and stable

A cozy garden café and stable

Linnaeus' Sävja is a quiet in-place for local residents and people/families around Uppsala, aiming to offer a relaxed destination rich in history. Carl Linnaeus used the farm as a place to think, write and meet with the farm foreman - a place of his own where the family did not come. At weekends Linnaeus brought his students here on botanical walking tours from Uppsala.

Every summer between May and August the property's tenant farmer and the local heritage society arrange a "Gårdoasen (Farm oasis)" programme, filling the weekends with live music from an outdoor stage, a variety of art exhibitions, tours of the museum and herb garden and guided tours. And a country festival.

A small hop garden with 17th-century clones is maintained for sample brewing of a farm beer, Linnéöl. Linnaeus' Sävja has a farm café offering home-made bread, coffee and cakes and sandwiches. The rooster struts around the courtyard among the tables with his hens and the lambs bleat in the pasture.

Open weekends June, half July and August.
