Linnaeus is constantly present, enriching the everyday lives of Uppsala’s residents through the unique legacy he left behind in our parks and gardens.
Uppsala - the city of Carl Linnaeus
In Uppsala you can visit gardens, parks and nature in the spirit of Carl Linnaeus. Among other things you can see his home and his own garden. We welcome you to get to know Uppsala, the city of Linnaeus.
– “Wonder at everything, even the most everyday things”, said Carl Linnaeus. Linnaeus was before his time in many ways. His message was to observe and be curious about what you can see around you, and you’ll never be bored.
Linnaeus is one of the world’s best-known scientists. He studied, researched, taught and lived here in Uppsala for almost 50 years. No other place in the world can show as many traces of him as Uppsala. His historical presence can be felt here in physical places, buildings, gardens and excursion trails with preserved flora and fauna. His science also lives on at Uppsala’s two universities where modern biology and bioengineering are important cornerstones.
