Uppsala – the University City

In Uppsala there are two universities, Uppsala University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Founded in 1477, Uppsala University is the oldest university in the Nordic region. The universities are a significant part of the city with their many students, successful research and rich history.

Every autumn around 10,000 students start their education at one of our universities.

Things you don’t want to miss

Visit the University Main Building, the university museum Museum Gustavianum, and the university library, Carolina Rediviva. There are also other places of interest in the city that are associated with the universities.
