It's not every day that you visit Uppsala or the region around it – called Uppland, so why not pop along to the fabulously located Uppland County Museum and find out all about it.
The Uppland County Museum is housed in the old Academy Mill building from the 1760s on an islet in the Fyris river. The museum spreads out over four floors with a mix of permanent and temporary exhibitions. Of the permanent ones, a presentation of the history of Uppsala and 'ancient Uppland over 5,000 years' are both highlights.
Otherwise, there are paintings, handicrafts, objects and artefacts, all with an Uppland bent, on show. And very interesting they are too. For kids there is a learning-environment children's corner where they can learn abut Uppland.
For eats and drinks pay a visit to the museum café and browse its shop for souvenirs. Admission is free.
