Uppsala University Coin Cabinet, situated in Universitetshuset, is one of Sweden's foremost coin and medal collections. The history of the collection dates back to the 17th century and among the first objects were the coins and medals that came to the university with the Augsburg Art Cabinet in 1694. The collections have grown and now contain coins and medals from around the world, since the very start of coin minting about 2600 years ago.
The collections now contain almost 40,000 objects, in particular rare and unusually well-preserved and unique Swedish coins and medals.
