The magazine Internetworld selected the year's best Swedish web sites during the Topp100 festivities in Stockholm on January 23. Destination Uppsala, which launched its new destination site in March 2013, won the prestigious prize awarded to the best tourism site of the year.
"We're really happy! Our ambition has always been to develop Sweden's best destination site and to have reached the goal is fantastic," says Tiina Mykkänen, CEO for Destination Uppsala.
Internetworld named the year's 100 best web sites in 17 categories back in December. Destination Uppsala was presented as one of the five best destination sites in Sweden. During the Topp100 festivities, held at Nalen in Stockholm on January 23, all winners were presented for the "Sweden's Best Site" titles in the various categories.
A modern Uppsala experience in digital form
The Uppsala company Phosworks did the design and nearU programmed the site that Destination Uppsala launched in March 2013. With an innovative design and flexible technology, visitors have a modern Uppsala experience in digital form.
"With increasing numbers of people using mobile technology to find inspiration and book travel, it's important that we meet their needs," says Tiina. "Our job is to market Uppsala, and the web site gives us the opportunity to show what the city can offer."
The web site provides good content in attractive package
The jury's statement was as follows: "With good content in an attractive package, it is apparent that amazing results can be achieved with modest means. Uppsala's new and responsive tourism site has a smart design and works extremely well on mobile devices. Texts and images are of high quality and all information is reached with just a few clicks. The result is a major lift for a city that apart from the universities, usually has a hard time with profiling. Destination Uppsala is therefore Sweden's best tourism site for 2013."
Internetworld.se is a site for analyses and commentary on innovations and trends in digital communications and digital commerce. Topp100 is a festive event where the people behind Sweden's 100 best sites gather and the winners are announced.
