Noors Castle

Wooden castle from the Baroque period

Noors Castle is a wooden castle from 1697 with a beautiful castle park located between Uppsala and Arlanda, between the lakes Valloxen and Säbysjön. Noor is a very small castle, to be precise, Sweden’s smallest baroque castle, but still nonetheless a castle. It is a so-called pleasure palace created after the great examples of the continent but adapted to Swedish conditions and on a smaller scale. The castle’s interesting history stretches far back in time, and the estate is mentioned for the first time in medieval sources already in the 14th century. Visitors to Noors Castle should not miss the preserved fruit garden from the 17th century. The garden includes its own local apple variety called Noors Glass Apple. Sensitive lichens and herbs grow here, and many different bird species nest in the lakeside areas. Perfect for a relaxing and cozy weekend near the city but with the forest, meadows, and lakes around the corner.
